Promenade Bag - The South Bank in Autumn
Welcome to my Promenade Bag, The South Bank in Autumn.
A stylish Promenade Bag exudes a sense of belonging, a sense that the person and the bag belong in a place. And to conclude that a bag belongs in London demands that its design evidences uncluttered simplicity, sophisticated lines alongside an au-contraire, eclectic, sense of theatre. But that's not enough, the colours of the principal surfaces must work in harmony with the handles, the piping, the zip, the end surfaces. And even that's not enough. The architecture of an elegant Promenade Bag must seem proportional to its desired uses whether these be enjoying a sophisticated restaurant in Chelsea or strolling the Embankment along the South Bank. So, the handles must always feel comfortable irrespective of payloads - and internal spaciousness must accommodate changes in "feel like" climates in the ever changing London weather and not compromise a stylish shape. And for the crowds of strolling visitors along Oxford Street there are further considerations - the bag has to be light yet strong enough to carry a visitors paraphernalia - and of course it has to be weatherproof. Welcome to my South Bank.
The facings of both sides of South Bank are made from a vegan friendly synthetic canvas to produce the distinctive feel of a
riverside artist's canvas, while both ends and handles are made from a soft, high grade material. There are popper closing open pockets at both ends while the top opening is closed with a single zip which itself requires to be thought of as a design feature (not just any old zip). The zip opens into an unexpectedly cavernous lined interior even though the bag only measures 13.5" (Length 34 cm) by 6.5" (Width 16 cm) by 9" (Height 23 cm with handles down). It weighs just over 500 gm – light, spacious but strong.
