My collections - my expressions of classic bag architectures
Welcome to the vibrant colours and richly textured images of my bags for women. They are the result of more than five years artistic and creative experimentation and development. During this time I experimented with surfaces to paint that might be appreciated by women who value the diversity of the world we live in and who love to travel to experience it first hand. Then I had to work out, by trial and error, how to make my creativity work at the practical level.
Five years later I now work on the architectures of bag designs of impeccable provenance (the Boston, Tote and Coco Chanel's Flap bags and their offspring), doing so by following the lead of the Renaissance period artists of Rome and Florence who uplifted the spirituality of buildings of great architectural merit more than half a millennia ago by painting colourful stories in the empty spaces of grand ceilings and soaring walls.
I now paint [metaphorically that is] in the spaces around the roof timbers, the pillars and the walls of classic bags to create the possibility of whole new sensory feelings in my kind of women for my bags. Images can recover feelings that lie deep in our inner consciousness, the treasure trove of the ancient limbic memory - see an image of a ballet dancer in a moment of graceful movement and some will remember oh so fondly when they travelled with their parents to Saint Petersburg all those years ago and sat spellbound at the Mariinsky watching Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. Colourful images are more than just paintings, they are the real soul of a bag, reaching into the feelings that only a potential buyer is aware of.
Thank you for visiting my collections, we look forward to engaging with you.
